Program areas

The research and policy-oriented work of the Center on Capitalism and Society in coming months will focus on three broad areas:
1.      Uncertainty, asset prices and finance
a.      How to restructure and regulate the banking sector and the financial markets?
b.      How to create a framework to deal with excessive asset price swings?
c.       How to ensure the availability of adequate credit which is essential to support the reactivation of an innovative and dynamic economy?
d.      How to reduce the system’s vulnerability to future crises?
2.      Dynamism, entrepreneurs and financiers
a.      How to regain economic dynamism in the US?
b.      How to create more economic dynamism in Europe and other parts of the world?
c.       What macroeconomic and microeconomic policies would boost entrepreneurship?
d.      What are the business climate (finance, infrastructure, other public goods, etc) issues that need to change for entrepreneurship to thrive?
e.      What institutions or social attitudes need to be created or reformed?
3.      Inclusion, participation and pay
a.      How to create or regain economic inclusion in the US and across the world?
b.      What measures could be taken to make the financial sector more inclusive?
c.       What specific policies could be used to target low-wage earners in the non-financial sector?
d.       What institutions or social attitudes need to be created or reformed to achieve a more inclusive economy?
