Lauri Pietinalho

Lauri Pietinalho is an independent scholar and theoretician interested in alternative perspectives on the nature and dynamics of humans, humanity, and their organizing. His work builds theory on phenomenology and the relational and institutional premises of the kind of agency that enables exploration beyond the edges of prevailing social construction. Pietinalho holds a PhD (2022) in applied philosophy and organizational research from Aalto University, Finland. In his integrative dissertation, "Toward a Theory of an Ontology of Possibility in Organizational Settings," Pietinalho combined and drew from Edmund Phelps’s philosophy of "mass flourishing," authority paradoxes in less hierarchical organizing, and seminal theses of relational ontology. He is currently a Visiting Scholar in the Business and Society Program at NYU Stern. Before beginning his doctoral studies, Pietinalho worked as a management consultant at Booz & Company and in strategy positions at Nokia.
