In a seminar titled "Practical Knowledge," Amar Bhide speaks on some hypotheses he has developed about the nature, development and use of practical knowledge and about the content and structure of a graduate seminar he has started teaching on the topic. Amar Bhide is the Thomas Schmidheiny Professor of International Business at Tufts University, editor of Capitalism and Society, member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and the author of A Call for Judgment: Sensible Finance for a Dynamic Economy (Oxford, 2010), The Origin and Evolution of New Businesses (Oxford, 2000) and The Venturesome Economy: How Innovation Sustains Prosperity in a More Connected World (Princeton, 2008). A former McKinsey & Company consultant, Bhidé was educated at the Indian Institute of Technology and Harvard Business School, where he graduated as a Baker Scholar and later served as an associate professor.
